This handbook is intended to assist landowners in making land available for farming by others. If you have property that could be used for agriculture, this guide will help you through the steps. This guide is for people who own land that has been or could be farmed but don’t intend to farm it themselves, aka “non-farming landowners.” Perhaps you inherited a farm, own a primary or secondary residence with farmable acreage, invested in farmland, or retired from actively farming your property. You may or may not live on the farm. In fact, nationally, farm landlords live increasingly farther away from their farm properties.
