RiverLink

RiverLink was born in 1987 of simultaneous efforts to address water quality concerns throughout the French Broad River basin, expand public opportunities for access and recreation, and spearhead the economic revitalization of Asheville’s dilapidated riverfront district. As expressed in our mission statement, we focus on related issues that directly impact the environmental health of our region’s rivers and streams and the growth and sustainability of our economy.

We focus exclusivly on protecting riparian buffers and steep slopes since these two land areas offer the best protection for water quality.  We also use the  “Forever Option” to secure overnight camping area sites along the  the French Broad River so that we can offer a paddle trail along the river that is protected forever with conservation and recreation easements that are free, open to the public and available without reservations.  If you would like to know how you can protect your steep slope and/or riparian buffer area and earn a tax credit while helping  keep our watershed pristine for drinking water, fishing, swimming and access.
