Golden State Land Conservancy

The Golden State Land Conservancy (GSLC) is a statewide California land trust incorporated in 1999; and since inception, has been a member of the Land Trust Alliance and adheres to its Standards and Practices.

GSLC's distinctive philosophy is to approach conservation pragmatically. Our focus is on the landowner’s vision for their land—to work with them to bring about the best, most cost-effective and sustainable conservation outcomes. GSLC espouses no ideological agenda. We simply wish to help landowners conserve their property for the future, by meeting regulatory and professional requirements in a common sense, practical way.

Our philosophy has resonated with many satisfied landowners throughout California, with 50 conservation easements (donated or required by public agencies) covering over 34,000 acres throughout the State of California. We also own two conserved properties, manage three reserves, and oversee three public trails.

GSLC’s mission is to promote and secure land conservation by developing flexible relationships with landowners to achieve conservation objectives. In other words, we balance the needs and desires of the landowner with the legal requirements of a permanent conservation outcome.
