Over the past 40-years, the Cohasset Conservation Trust (CCT) has accumulated
an extensive range of properties, policies, practices and commitments which, collectively embody the ‘culture’ of the institution.
The Trust views its conservation lands as a legacy for area residents, and we consider stewardship of these lands as our basic responsibility.
Its purpose is the preservation and protection of open space and the encouragement of the study of our natural resources.
The Trust owns nearly 90-acres of land in Cohasset and Scituate and holds the Conservation Restriction (CR) on a 32-acre parcel known as the Barnes Wildlife Sanctuary.
The two main vehicles the Trust can use to preserve and protect open space are to own the property outright, or to obtain and maintain a conservation restriction on it.
The Cohasset Conservation Trust is a member of the Massachusetts Land Trust Coalition, a sponsor member of the national Land Trust Alliance and has adopted its Statement of Land Trust Standards and Practices which provides guidance to the Board of Directors in carrying out its responsibilities.
The CCT is a non-profit private operating 501(c)3 foundation.
Donations are applied to our general fund and
are used for the stewardship of our properties, operational expenses, and land acquisition.
Donations made to the CCT are tax deductible.
