Bodega Land Trust

Bodega Land Trust was established in 1992 by a small group of ranchers who, like Aldo Leopold, saw the realization of community in a shared love of the land. As new technologies increasingly influence the pace and patterns of our daily lives, Bodega Land Trust helps anchor us to a physical place – engaging us with the land and its natural and agricultural systems. From its origins in the town of Bodega, the Trust has focused its efforts on protecting the local area roughly defined by the Sonoma Coast from Jenner to the Estero Americano and the watersheds of Salmon Creek and Dutch Bill Creek, a tributary of the Russian River. Our mission is to support and preserve the health and diversity of the various communities to which we belong.

Bodega Land Trust offers you:

  1. The opportunity to preserve and restore agricultural lands, forests, streams, wilderness, natural habitats and resources in perpetuity through acceptance or purchase of land or conservation easements. A conservation easement is a legal agreement a landowner makes to limit the nature of future development. Each easement is uniquely tailored to reflect a landowner's desired land use. Donations may result in tax advantages to owners.
  2. Participation in the preservation of land and community by joining Bodega Land Trust.
  3. The opportunity to help develop and encourage rural communities through involvement in projects like the Salmon Creek Watershed Project.
  4. Membership, including naturalist-led day hikes, nature seminars and newsletter.
