Their primary purpose is to create and implement a statewide monarch conservation strategy which encompasses habitat creation and enhancement, education and outreach, and research and monitoring. The founding members of the Wisconsin Monarch Collaborative were organized into six separate Working Groups: Agriculture, Communications & Outreach, Protected Lands, Research & Monitoring, Rights-of-Way, and Urban & Green Space. The co-leads of each Working Group facilitated meetings in order to finalize their sections of the strategy.

Wisconsin Monarch Conservation Strategy

By:

Created by members of the Wisconsin Monarch Collaborative, the Wisconsin Monarch Conservation Strategy has a timeframe from 2019 to 2038. This roadmap aims to provide an overarching strategy that individual agency and partner strategies can draw from and that is supportive of successful ongoing work in Wisconsin. Themes and areas of shared interest that were identified can hopefully continue to increase cooperation within and between sectors across the state to more efficiently reverse the decline of the monarch butterfly.
