Congress Gives the Gift of Permanent Tax Incentives for Conservation Easements this Holiday Season

Congressional leaders have announced a broad, year-end deal that will make permanent the enhanced incentive for donations of conservation easements! Additionally, the deal includes a brief but welcome reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund — setting the stage for important legislative action next year.

USDA Announces $40 Million available to help ranchers restore sage grouse habitat

On December 10th, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced the availability of $40 million to help ranchers and other partners in 11 western states restore and protect sagebrush habitat for greater sage-grouse on privately-owned land.

This investment is part of USDA's four-year, $211 million Sage Grouse Initiative 2.0 through the Working Lands for Wildlife (WLFW) partnership. The WLFW partnership uses seven focus species, including sage grouse, to steer public and private conservation investments that improve struggling landscapes and strengthen agricultural operations.

Jorgensen Land & Cattle Partnership Receives 2015 Leopold Conservation Award

For their stewardship ethic, the Jorgensen family are the recipients of this year's Leopold Conservation Award for South Dakota.
