On August 20th, Audubon: John James Audubon and the Birds of America was screened in Rockland, ME. According to its creators, the film is "the story of a rare man and the wild creatures he loved...The legacy of Audubon is as timeless and vital as his art, and this film is an effort to appreciate him as he deserves."

The next screening is Sep. 9, 2016 at the Yampa Valley Crane Festival, Steamboat Springs, CO.

RFF President Amos Eno Newest Board Member of MOHF
On August 12, 2016, Resources First Foundation President Amos S Eno was officially sworn in as the newest board member of the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund.

"I'm honored to be chosen as the newest board member of the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund," said Eno. "I look forward to working with my fellow board members to come up with new ideas for improving this fund which is so vital to the conservation of Maine's open spaces and wildlife habitat."

Update: Once Nearly Extinct California Island Foxes No Longer Endangered
Thanks to an aggressive recovery effort, U.S. Fish and Wildlife officials have removed three subspecies on San Miguel, Santa Rosa and Santa Cruz islands from the endangered list. A fourth subspecies, the Santa Catalina Island fox, has been upgraded from "endangered" to "threatened."

Farm-to-Table Restaurant a Winner for Local Farmers
Together, Chloe and Wesley Genovart, owners of SoLo Farm and Table, have made a dream come true, creating a farm-to-table dining experience that is, as Chloe describes, a “personal expression of their life experiences, passions and commitments to the industry” they adore.

She adds: "It means a lot for patrons to be able to see some of the ingredients in their natural state—it really connects people back to the land."

New Program Pays Central Valley Farmers to Grow Wildlife Habitat

To combat the negative effects California's drought and increased development are having on the state's wildlife, the Environmental Defense Fund, along with a partner organization, has launched the Central Valley Habitat Exchange, a voluntary program that gives landowners - farmers and ranchers - incentives to create wildlife habitats on their land.

"Women and Land" Conservation Learning Circle
Join American Farmland Trust for three sessions of engaging discussion and fellowship focused on women in agriculture and natural resources management in our region. The sessions are part of AFT's "Women and Land" Conservation Program, designed for female landowners like you, who own and make management decisions on Virginia forest or farm land.

The first of three sessions begins Wednesday, September 14, 2016.

KEA, Landowners Collaborate to Heal Idaho's Fernan Lake
This past May, the Kootenai Environmental Alliance (KEA), with the help of the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality’s Nonpoint Source Management Program, stood up to the plate and decided to take on the goal of making Fernan Lake healthy again. That being said, Fernan Lake is sick...As KEA leads the way to making this beautiful Northern Idaho lake healthy again, they will look to the private landowners and the public of Kootenai County to bring Fernan Lake back to its healthy roots.
