Waldo County Soil & Water Conservation District

The District provides leadership, information, education and technical assistance to conserve, improve and sustain our natural resources through partnerships with individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies.

Soil and water conservation districts are non-profits who work very closely with the USDA/NRCS,  they are also at least in maine by law, a psudo-state agency in which they receive state funding and assistance. They are run by a board of elected and appointed supervisors, with voting rights. Each district decides on their own unique needs and works to promote them. Districts as a whole provide services in relation to the protection and conservation of soil and water. This is done through educational and technical service programs. The district, IS NOT in any way an enforcement entity and strives to build trust with land owners to further it’s mission. So, hopefully this answers your questions about who we are.
