The Quivira Coalition

to build resilience by fostering ecological, economic and social health on western landscapes through education, innovation, collaboration and progressive public and private land stewardship.

The initial mission of The Quivira Coalition, which was founded by a rancher and two environmentalists in June 1997, was to offer 'common sense solutions to the grazing debate,' principally by broadcasting the principles of ecologically sensitive ranch management.

We do so through four broad initiatives:

  1. improving land health;
  2. sharing knowledge and innovation;
  3. building local capacity; and
  4. strengthening diverse relationships.
