Rockbridge Area Conservation Council

RACC advocates for land use practices and policies which conserve our watershed, air quality, wildlife habitats and scenic forested and agricultural landscapes by:

  • promoting transportation alternatives such as local bike and pedestrian improvements, and diverting long-haul truck traffic to intermodal rail eliminate the need to expand I-81;
  • facilitating a groundwater protection ordinance to preserve healthy well water and springs;
  • advocating for thoughtful land use planning before projected infill development occurs along the extension of public utilities from Lexington to Raphine; and
  • encouraging responsible use, sustainable development and wise management of the community’s outdoor recreational assets.
