Ridges Sanctuarylast updated: April 2017

In 1937, The Ridges Sanctuary became Wisconsin’s first land trust. For nearly 80 years, it has been an integral part of the rich, natural setting of the Baileys Harbor community and the Door County Peninsula. Founded to preserve the original 40 acre parcel, The Ridges has grown thoughtfully and strategically to ensure the protection of the most biologically diverse ecosystem in Wisconsin.

Mission
to protect the Sanctuary and inspire stewardship of natural areas through programs of education, outreach and research.

The Ridges Sanctuary is a 1,440 acre pristine natural area located in Door County, Wisconsin. Formed in 1937, it is the oldest nonprofit nature preserve in the state. The Ridges is also designated as a State Natural Area, an Important Bird Area and a National Natural Landmark.
