The Prairie Pothole Joint Venture is voluntary, self-directed network of partners at the local, regional, national, and international levels who share a common interest in wetland and grassland habitat conservation for birds.

The PPJV operates across the U.S. Prairie Pothole Region, covering portions of Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. This unique area contains millions of wetlands and is one of the richest wetland systems in the world. These "prairie potholes" and their surrounding grasslands are highly productive and support an incredible diversity of plant, animal, and bird life. Our partnership involves federal and state agencies, non-governmental conservation groups, private landowners, scientists, universities, policy makers, resource managers, corporations, and others interested in prairie habitat conservation.
