Northwest Regional RC&D

Northwest Regional Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) is a locally led, non-profit, rural development organization covering Flathead, Lake, Lincoln, and Sanders counties in Northwestern Montana.

The RC&D Program combines people, rural development needs and opportunities, to create community solutions. RC&D provides a vehicle for dealing with many rural issues through citizen participation. It is as much a way of doing things - a process - as it is a program. The Northwest Regional RC&D works toward accomplishing what is planned and agreed upon by local citizens in Northwestern Montana through partnerships. Many dedicated volunteers make RC&D successful. Local people work together to set goals and priorities, select projects and take action.

The Northwest Regional RC&D is one of eight RC&Ds in Montana and 375 in the nation. RC&Ds are located in all 50 states and U.S. Territories. Thus far, Northwest Regional RC&D’s largest project has been administering grants from the Montana DNRC and US Forest Service to help private citizens protect their home and land from a wildland fire. Providing funding to assist landowners in reducing the hazardous fuels around their home can reduce the risk of fire as well as provide better protection for the firefighters. RC&D has played an important role in getting the funding on the ground in a timely manner.
