Northeastern Wetland/Grassland Restoration Program

Program Description

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service administers this program in partnership with Ducks Unlimited and the Indiana Division of Fish and Wildlife. The program is a financial assistance program that reimburses landowners up to 100 percent of the expenses incurred for the restoration of wetlands and the establishment of native grasses. Qualifying projects must be located in one of the following northeastern Indiana counties: Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, DeKalb, Whitley, or Allen.

Program Highlights

  • Voluntary participation.
  • Landowner retains full ownership.
  • Landowner retains full rights to control public access.
  • Up to 100 % cost-share for wetland restorations.
  • Up to 100 % cost-share for native grassland restorations in association with existing or restored wetlands.
