Mont Vernon Conservation Commission

In accordance with RSA 36-A, the Conservation Commission was created to ensure the proper utilization and protection of the natural and watershed resources of the town. As primarily an advisory body, the commission works in cooperation with other town boards, such as the Planning Board and Selectmen, to ensure development has no adverse effects on our natural resources, and takes into account the rural character of the town. We review site plans, dredge & fill permits, and conduct site walks as appropriate. One Conservation Commission member also sits on the Planning Board.

Stewardship
The commission maintains an index of open space in the town, and periodically monitors the town owned properties. In situations where conservation easements are in place to protect open space, we monitor those properties to ensure the conditions of the easements are being met.
