Monroe County Extension

We are part of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service’s statewide network and the University of Arkansas System’s Division of Agriculture.  Our mission is to provide research-based information through non-formal education to help all Arkansans improve their economic well-being and the quality of their lives.  Whether it is agriculture, 4-H, health and living, or community development, the Monroe County Extension Office is at your service!

Monroe County Agriculture Program

The Monroe County Cooperative Extension Service is committed to providing University of Arkansas based research date to the growers to help them improve their crop yields and profitability.  We provide a wide variety of programs and activities to insure this information is distributed in a timely manner.  We hold grower meetings, conduct direct mailings and use mass media to distribute information quickly as possible.  We provide services such as crop demonstrations, Flag the Technology, and soil and plant sample analysis to aid growers in production decisions.

Monroe County 4-H and Youth Program

Are you between the ages of 5 and 19?  Do you like to cook, learn about robotics or enjoy shooting sports?  If you said yes to any of these activities then you need to learn more about the 4-H clubs in Monroe County.  Monroe County 4-H members are learning about these projects and many more. Come join all the fun and make some new friends.

Monroe County Master Gardener Program

The Master Gardeners of Monroe County are rapidly expanding in membership and making its presence known in the county. The Master Gardeners provide educational seminars to the public, participate in various city festivals in the county and are also active in the county fair. With beautification projects at the Delta Depot Museum and Folsom Library in Brinkley, the Master Gardeners are making their impact known to the citizens of Monroe County.

Family and Consumer Sciences

Healthy eating and staying fit are only two of the many areas of information your Monroe County FCS agent can help you learn more about. From monthly nutrition classes at senior centers, educational displays at Health Departments and libraries to strength training classes with medicine balls; living healthier is the goal. Our EFNEP Program Assistant also teaches "Eating Smart, Being Active" weekly classes Mid-Delta Health Clinic. 

Community Development

The Monroe County Cooperative Extension Service takes an active role in the community and in community development organizations.  We take an active role in the following organizations; Crossroad Coalition, Monroe County Economic Development Committee, Brinkley Rotary Rotary Club, and Tri-County Fair.
