Midland Conservation District

Mission
to find environmentally cooperative means for land usage and sustainability by providing a gateway for information, resources and partnership.

This program assists landowners with managing their land for wildlife and/or forestry goals. Through this program our forestry and wildlife professional provides natural resource guidance and assistance to landowners in the development of private land projects. They also provide technical information as well as information on existing programs and financial assistance.

The two primary goals for the program are to provide landowners with free assistance and education about programs financial assistance or general natural resources information.

The Midland Conservation District provides a wide range of forestry assistance to both public and private landowners.  The following is a list of some of the information and services that Phil Sworden can provide to landowners:

  • Free on-site visits
  • Tree and shrub planting recommendations
  • Timber sale assistance
  • Wildlife habitat enhancement
  • Wetland restoration
  • Tree insect and disease identification
  • Commercial Forest Act
  • American Tree Farm Program
  • Shallow wildlife ponds
  • Christmas tree management
  • Available cost-share programs
