Libby Sporting Camps

Libby Camps is now 120 years old and still in the same family! We have been blessed now for 5 generations to have great customers, experienced guides and most importantly unspoiled hunting and fishing. Many come just to watch the wildlife, hear the loons and take in the scenic vistas that we all take for granted. We are proud of our sporting heritage and will continue to preach the wonders and joys of hunting and fishing. Unlike many we are not big fans of change, we like the North Maine Woods just the way it is.

Trip rates have stayed the same for 2010 and are on the Libby web site. We will also be adding specials to our Specials Page on our website. Guides returning include full timers Rick, Chuck, Steve and Matt J as well as part timers: Jeff, Mike, Toby, Terry, Bob, Don, George and Jay, saving us from training new ones. These men bring over 275 years of guiding experience!

Extensive upgrades to the seaplanes in 2009 made life a lot easier. Matt J’s new air taxi and souped up C-172 really took the pressure off Matt P to do all of the daily flights. The C-185 also got a new engine and runs like a clock. Now with the other seaplane services to the south we can handle larger groups out of Presque Isle or Bangor and also be a lot less expensive for singles.

2009 showed Libbys earning some Kudos from Yankee Magazine as “Best Nature Vacation”. We are also in the new book “Greatest Fishing Lodges of North America” by Paul Ferson (Random House). National Geographic Adventure magazine featured us in an article as a favored destination as well. The Boston Globe gave us a great article “Standing the test of time”, about our 5 generation success. We also have new videos on our home page of the Libby website.
