Lewis Soil Conservation District

The Lewis Soil Conservation District was organized in 1941. Rolling plateaus cut by deeply entrenched streams characterize most of Lewis County. Slopes on the agricultural land range from 5 to 15 percent, some reach 30 percent. The District provides technical assistance in areas such as non-irrigated cropland, non-industrial private forestland and rangeland management.

  • Dedicated to conserving natural resources and promoting sound management practices that protect the environment and are economically feasible and productive.
  • Provide local leadership in the development and productive use of soil, water and related resources to improve soil quality, soil health, water quality, long term sustainability.
