Kansas Rural Center

Since 1979, the Kansas Rural Center has worked to strengthen small and family farms and their rural communities. We have provided a vision and a voice for those who see alternatives for our agricultural future, and help and resources for those who want to implement them.

We envision a future of thriving family farms, revitalized communities, a clean environment, a healthy local and regional food system, and viable livelihoods for farmers, including opportunities for the next generation who will grow our food.

Our Mission: To promote the long-term health of the land and its people through research, education and advocacy that advance an economically viable, ecologically sound, and socially just food and farming system.

To feed the world, Kansans must start at home.

KRC is led by and for farmers and ranchers who strive to help each other and their rural communities grow a healthy food and farming system here at home, in Kansas.

A non-profit, private organization, KRC is headquartered in Whiting, Kansas, population 200.

Our work is supported by public grants, private foundations, organizational partnerships, and contributions from individuals who care about the future of our land and our people.

For those who want a future in farming, who care about the environment, and who care about their communities and their food, KRC offers practical solutions, information and analysis from a Kansas point of view, and most importantly, hope for a healthy future.
