Goochland Powhatan Master Gardener Association

We are citizen volunteers from Goochland and Powhatan Counties with a common interest in gardening.

Master Gardeners are trained and supervised under the auspices of Virginia Cooperative Extension to answer questions from home gardeners using unbiased, research based horticulture information.

After receiving specialized training in environmental horticulture, Master Gardeners act on behalf of Virginia Cooperative Extension as volunteer educators.

We work with Virginia Cooperative Extension on all aspects of horticulture to teach people to protect as well as enhance the environment.

We combine 50 hours classroom instruction with 50 hours hands-on training as interns, a variety of backgrounds and life experiences, and a common desire to make a difference in our communities.

We reach people through a variety of programs, including plant clinics, telephone hotlines, newspaper articles, adult education classes, and our lawn care program, Green 'n' Clean.
