George Dresser

George Dresser focuses his practice on land conservation. He provides general counsel to a number of conservation land trusts and handles land conservation transactions of all kinds for both land trusts and land owners. He has extensive experience in drafting conservation restrictions and in shepherding them through the statutory approval process. He also advises landowners with respect to the federal income tax issues related to donations and bargain sales of land and conservation restrictions.

Attorney Dresser's practice also includes estate planning; he has a particular interest in planning for landowners and in helping families devise tax-efficient ways of transferring their land into the next generation. In addition, he handles estate and trust administration, does some appellate work, and occasionally assists his partners on litigation involving estates, tax issues, or real estate matters.
Attorney Dresser is one of the founders of two local conservation land trusts: the White Oak Land Conservation Society, Inc., based in Holden, and the Greater Worcester Land Trust, Inc., based in Worcester. He recently retired from White Oak's board of directors after over thirty years of service, and continues to serve on the GWLT board and as its treasurer after more than twenty years. He is often asked to speak on such topics as conservation restrictions, estate planning for landowners, and techniques of land conservation. He has also served on the boards of other Worcester charitable organizations including Children's Friend and Goddard/Homestead, Inc. He was given a Good Neighbor Award by the Holden Democratic Town Committee in recognition of his community and volunteer work, and in 2003 received a Land Conservation Leadership award from a coalition of Worcester County land trusts and conservation organizations. He is a member of the Worcester County Bar Association
