Florida Landowner Incentive Program

The Landowner Incentive Program (LIP)  provides technical advice and cost assistance to landowners for  habitat management that will result in the protection, restoration, reclamation, enhancement, and maintenance of  habitats that support fish, wildlife and plant species considered at risk. This program is made possible through grants from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which recognizes the need to help states with the stewardship of their at-risk species. Good stewardship can slow or reverse the decline of some species. 50 % of approved practices are reimbursed up to a maximum reimbursement of $20,000 for approved practices .   Requires a 50% non-federal match. Reimbursed based on established
flat rates for each approved practice.

Species at risk in Florida include 110 vertebrates, 8 invertebrates and 542 plant species. The key to conserving these native species involves maintaining or enhancing habitats that currently exist on private lands. Accordingly, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is working with private landowners to educate and encourage land management actions that will maintain or enhance habitat conditions that benefit the needs of listed species.

Privately owned lands, including lands owned by non-governmental organizations. There is no acreage minimum.

Eligible landowners must complete and sign a LIP application that includes the enrolled property location, boundary and proof of ownership. Applications shall remain valid for a period of two years. Completed application packages shall be mailed to: FWC – LIP Program; PO BOX 22105; TAMPA, FL 33622-2105

The goal of the Landowner Incentive Program (LIP) is to assist private landowners with enhancement of
habitat conditions for fish and wildlife with emphasis on improving habitat conditions for listed species or
species at risk. Enrollment in the LIP indicates a landowner’s approval for documentation of listed species
occurrences on enrolled properties.
