Dorchester SCD

Mission
To provide effective leadership, education, and technical expertise in the conservation of soil, water, and related natural resources.

The Dorchester Soil Conservation District (SCD) was organized in 1942 as a political subdivision of the State of Maryland. The Dorchester SCD is one of 24 Districts that cover all of Maryland except Baltimore City. Neighboring Districts include: Caroline, Talbot, and Wicomico Counties in Maryland and Sussex County in Delaware.

The Maryland Soil Conservation District law gives the Dorchester SCD authority to engage in conservation practices for soil, water, and related resources, which is accomplished through specific programs. Dorchester SCD is managed by a 5 member Board of Supervisors. Their volunteer efforts aid local individuals and organizations interested in applying for programs to promote conservation practices and the stewardship of natural resources. Dorchester SCD encourages a cooperative and voluntary approach as the best way to achieve good conservation on the ground.
