Berkshire-Litchfield Environmental Council

The Berkshire-Litchfield Environmental Council (BLEC) is a group of citizens acting together as an advocate for the natural environment of Berkshire and Litchfield counties. Consequently, BLEC shall:

  • Identify and respond to potential environmental crises.
  • Educate the community for greater awareness of our relationships with our environment.
  • Participate in shaping the decisions which affect our environment.

BLEC must develop and maintain the support necessary for implementing these activities.

BLEC, when necessary, will initiate efforts to maintain and improve the quality of our environment and, when appropriate, will encourage and cooperate with other organizations' initiatives. BLEC will promote an understanding of both the environmental and economic needs, and of the preservation and conservation issues, within our bioregion.
