One of the nation's leading authorities on the tax and financial aspects of land conservation transactions, Bill Hutton provides tax advice to nonprofit organizations, businesses, and individuals.
Bill Hutton is a recognized expert in nonprofit and tax law, with an emphasis on the tax aspects of land preservation, including conservation easement planning. He acts as counsel to both national conservation organizations and local and regional land trusts, and advises individuals and corporations on the income and estate tax consequences of conservation transactions. In addition, he advises the firm's clients on the full range of tax and corporate legal issues that confront nonprofit charitable organizations and their directors.
In addition to his work for the firm's clients, Bill Hutton is a professor of law emeritus at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, where he continues to teach on a part-time basis. He has previously served as a member of the tax faculty at New York University School of Law, and as a visiting professor at the University of Virginia and Stanford University law schools.
