Washington Association of Conservation Districts

The Washington Association of Conservation Districts:

  • provides District supervisors, staff, and partners with timely information, education, and leadership;
  • represents Districts at state, regional, and national levels;
  • serves as one of the links between Districts and their state and federal partners and other organizations;
  • facilitates the resolution of natural resource-related problems;
  • serves as a communication link between Districts.

WACD is a voluntary non-governmental association to advance the purposes of conservation districts and their constituents by providing leadership, information, and representation.”

The Washington Association of Conservation Districts is a non-profit organization representing Washington's 47 Conservation Districts, whose mission is to advance the purposes of Conservation Districts and their constituents by providing leadership, information, and representation. Specific goals of WACD are accomplished through Legislative Activities, Capacity Building, and numerous standing Issue Committees and Task Forces.

 

The Association is governed by the 5 Officers, the 12 Area Directors, and the President of the Washington Association of District Employees. The WACD Officers Executive Board consists of five elected officers: President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, WACD National Director and immediate Past President. The Executive Board meets quarterly or as needed.

 

The WACD Area Directors consist of two elected officers from each of the WACD six areas. The Area Directors serve the regional interest of the districts. The Area Directors operate within the by laws of WACD and according to the policies set by the Association. Area Directors are elected to a two year term at their fall area meeting.

 

The Executive Director carries out the day-to-day business of the association, maintains liaisons with other state and national agencies and organizations with natural resource concerns and operates according to the Association By-Laws and established policies.
