UI Extension, Nez Perce Reservation Program, provides all reservation residents with research-based information focusing on empowering youth and families through horsemanship, gardening, and community development. The Nez Perce Reservation Extension Program was funded by the USDA-CSREES in 2007 and the new office was opened in February 2008 in Lapwai, Idaho. This program continues to be funded by NIFA and was made possible by a partnership with the Nez Perce Tribe who is providing the office space and other support. This is a Federally Recognized Tribes Extension Program (FRTEP) and Idaho has two other FRTEP projects, one on the Coeur d’Alene (CDA) Reservation and one on the Ft. Hall Reservation.
