HIKING: Complex of seven seperate national refuges in southern part of Delta/Yazoo Basin; site of Teddy Roosevelt's famous bear hunt and where history of Teddy Bear began; explore Delta forest, lakes; abundant wildlife, including alligators; experience Delta history, culture: Alligator Slough Nature Trail- brake trail in Hillside National Wildlife Refuge area; nature areas; wildlife viewing: trails around Alligator Pond- in Yazoo National Wildlife Refuge area; recommended for hikers, nature lovers; other trails in area; observation towers overlooking lakes; Holt Collier Observation Tower provides best vantage point. Note: Exercise caution during hunting seasons.
