The Wallace Trust

The Wallace Trust is a private, non-profit, 501(c)3 corporation registered with the IRS and incorporated in 1991, at no cost to taxpayers. In 2000, the Wallace ...Township Board of Supervisors recognized the Trust under the terms of the township's "Open Space, Recreation and Environmental Resources Plan".
The subdivision ordinances of Wallace Township require that almost all new subdivisions set aside a portion of the tract as permanent dedicated open space. This is done by placing a conservation easement on the area to be preserved. The Wallace Trust was created to be a local organization qualified to hold those easements. It is the Trust's responsibility to see that the easements are honored, now and in the future. The Trust holds the easements, but does not own the land.
We are an all volunteer group who's operations are funded entirely by private donations.
Membership is open to all residents of Wallace Township for $25 per family annual dues. There is a volunteer Board of Directors elected by the membership at an annual meeting. To date the Trust holds 22 easements on 176 acres of land. One voluntary donation protected 5 acres; 140 acres are in subdivisions and 29 acres are natural habitat purchased with county and state grants and then donated to the township.
