Susan J. Burkenstock

Ms. Burkenstock's focus is on estate planning and succession law matters, intellectual property, real estate development, and general business representation.  Her practice includes a full range of estate planning and trust documentation, as well as estate administration from probate through estate tax audit.
 
Ms. Burkenstock's experience in representing and advising private developers in major real estate projects includes the St. Louis Merchandise Mart, a residential and retail mixed-use project, and the redevelopment of the GM&O Terminal in Mobile, Alabama, for alternative commercial uses. Ms. Burkenstock was also involved in the development of the New Orleans Ritz-Carlton Hotel and several residential real estate developments in the Historic Warehouse District of New Orleans. These complex transactions have involved extensive work with federal tax incentives for historic preservation, including certified historic rehabilitation, conservation contributions (facade easements), and low-income housing tax credits.
 
Ms. Burkenstock's work in the area of intellectual property has included international trademark prosecution, as well as mark defense and enforcement. Ms. Burkenstock also has experience in copyright infringement and trade secret litigation.
