The agricultural land preservation program is an easement program that receives funds from the county, state and sometimes the Federal level. Farmers who qualify have their development rights purchased by the county.

The Snyder County Agricultural Land Preservation Board (SCALPB) is the county organization that sets up guidelines for easement qualification and decides how the easements will be distributed. These guidelines, as well as minimum criteria from the state, determine the ranking system used in the preservation program.
