Shelley Thompson

Shelley Thompson is a Shareholder at the Firm. Shelley handles all aspects of Wills, Trusts, and Estate matters at the firm. She assists clients with estates, probate, trust and probate litigation, charitable giving, guardianships and conservatorships, passing on businesses, contracts, buy-sell agreements, operating agreements, and prenuptial agreements. Shelley also practices in complex business disputes, litigation, and corporate matters.

Shelley is a member of the Denver Estate Planning Council, the Trusts and Estate Section of the Colorado Bar Association, the Colorado Women’s Bar Association, the American Association of University Women, and the Women’s Estate Planning Council. She regularly speaks on planned giving, and trusts and estates legal issues. Shelley was chosen as a finalist in for the Young Professional Award 2009 by the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce.

Shelley’s litigation experience includes several years of complex securities litigation and bankruptcy adversary litigation.  Shelley’s publications include: Thompson, S., Globalization of the Securities Markets: Effects on Investor Protection, ABA Journal, International Lawyer, Winter 2007-2008, 41 INTLLAW 1121. She also performed pro bono litigation and volunteer work on behalf of foreign-born U.S. citizens, achieving changes to New York law.

Shelley has performed a wide variety of other community work, including volunteer work for the homeless and low-income people in Denver. Originally from the Denver area, Shelley received her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her Juris Doctor and Masters of Arts in International Affairs from American University in Washington D.C.. Shelley is licensed to practice law in Colorado and New York. She is proficient in Spanish and speaks elementary Turkish.
