Scott D. James

The Partners for Fish and Wildlife program provides free technical assistance and may be able to assist with funding for restoration or enhancement projects within a Private Lands Biologist focus area, i.e. Northwest Illinois and East-Central Iowa.

Scott James works with conservation partners and landowners along the Mississippi, Cedar, Iowa, Wapsi, and Rock Rivers bluffs & floodplain areas and in the southern Driftless area to restore, enhance, and/or establish pollinator habitat, wetland habitat, and certain other types of habitat. He is stationed at the Illinois-Iowa Field Office.

Quick Facts:

  • The Partners for Fish and Wildlife program provides free technical assistance.
  • Each project aims for a 50/50 split on the costs of the restoration or enhancement.
  • The landowner’s equipment, time and labor can be used as matching funds.
  • The program does not provide annual rental payments.
  • A cropping history is not required.
  • The land stays in complete control of the private landowner after signing their 10-year minimum agreement and the landowner retains control over who accesses their property.
