Pylman & Associates, Inc. was formed in 2004 to provide land planning consulting services to clients in the Vail – Eagle County area and the western Colorado region. Rick Pylman, owner of Pylman & Associates, Inc. has extensive land planning experience and has served private and public sector clients with a comprehensive range of land planning and development consulting services. Many of our projects involve project and entitlement management services.

The philosophy of Pylman & Associates, Inc. is to remain a small, nimble, owner-driven firm that is completely responsive to the individual requirements of each client and project. We maintain an extensive network of relationships with engineering firms, surveyors, environmental consultants, architects, landscape architects and other consulting firms. We work with the firms that are widely recognized as the best in their fields. We are able to quickly assemble the most appropriate team for each particular client, project or political jurisdiction. Each member of our team will work well within his or her area and level of expertise. There will be no learning curve or staff training occurring at our client’s expense. Pylman & Associates, Inc. manages each team to produce optimum results in the most efficient manner possible.

Richard Pylman, AICP, has a twenty-five year background in resort, recreation and residential land use planning, comprehensive and master planning, community development, project permitting and project management. Pylman & Associates, Inc was formed in October of 2004 to provide continuing land planning services to the Vail, Eagle County and western Colorado region. Current or recent Pylman & Associates, Inc. clients include Vail Resorts, East West Partners, Wright and Company, Fentress Architects, the Eagle-Vail Metropolitan District, and Triumph Development, among others. For the 11 years prior to the formation of Pylman & Associates, Inc, Mr. Pylman served as an Associate at Peter Jamar Associates, Inc./PJA Land Planning. PJA Land Planning was widely considered the preeminent land planning firm in the Vail and Eagle County Colorado area and carries a sterling reputation across Colorado and the western United States. While at PJA Land Planning Mr. Pylman was responsible for the management of many notable PJA projects such as: Knudson Ranch, the St. Clare of Assisi campus, Eagle Ranch, Red Sky Ranch, the Vail Christian High School PUD, McCoy Springs at Arrowhead and Caribou Ranch, among many others. The clients of these projects include Summit Habitats, Vail Resorts Development Company, Mr. Jim Guercio, the Archdiocese of Denver and East West Partners.

Prior to joining PJA Land Planning in 1993, Mr. Pylman served as the Director of Community Development for the Town of Avon, Colorado from 1990 to 1993. In this position Mr. Pylman was responsible for the management of the Planning and Building Departments of the Town of Avon. During his tenure there he oversaw the drafting and adoption of a revised Zoning Code and the Town of Avon Master Plan, Urban Design Plan and Affordable Housing Plan.

Mr. Pylman served as Town Planner for the Town of Vail, Colorado from 1985 to 1990. In this position, Mr. Pylman was project manager for the development of the Vail Land Use Master Plan and the Recreation Trails Master Plan. He also coordinated the development review process and managed current planning projects.

From 1982 to 1985 Mr. Pylman served as a planner for Eagle County, Colorado.

Mr. Pylman received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1981.

Mr. Pylman is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the American Planning Association.
