Area Regulations:
  • No rifles or pistols may be used or possessed
  • Camping and trailers are not allowed
  • Miner Slough Wildlife Area can be accessed by boat only.
  • Located about 10 miles North of Rio Vista at the junction of Miner Slough and Cache Slough, southeast of the entrance to the Sacramento Deep Water Channel; east of Ryer Island and Highway 84.
  • A boat ramp is available at Rio Vista or off Hwy 84 at the bridge onto Prospect Island near the north end of Ryer Island.
  • The area is 37 acres in size with approximately 10 acres remaining above the water at high tide, making up one small island and a narrow peninsula extending from Prospect Island.
  • Excellent riparian vegetation of willows, cottonwoods, tules, and blackberries exist.
  • This habitat supports a variety of wildlife species, including beaver, black-crowned night heron, and a variety of waterfowl.
Recreational Use:
  • Type C Wildlife Area - no permits, passes, or reservations are required.
  • Birdwatching and wildlife viewing for shorebirds, waterfowl, and raptors.
  • Fishing in sloughs primarily for catfish, large mouth bass, crappie, striped bass.
  • Allowed for waterfowl during open season.
  • None.
