Lower Chattahoochee River Soil and Water Conservation District

The Lower Chattahoochee River Conservation District consists of nine counties, Clay, Lee, Quitman, Randolph, Stewart, Sumter, Schley, Terrell, Webster, and currently has thirteen active Supervisors.

In the past year our District Supervisors have worked closely with our partners to set local conservation priorities within our counties to assure we are addressing, both financial and technical assistance as needed to achieve agricultural sustainability. With that partnership we have seen over $1.5 million in Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) conservation practices for 2018 alone. In addition, we have seen impressive results in other programs such as Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP), and Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP).

Our District has been dedicated to helping our local educators by offering a grant to provide additional funding to teach students about agriculture and our natural resources. We are proud to say that we have seen a great response with the Grant Program, over the years and this year is no exception, assisting six schools in our district. With our partners at Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA- NRCS), we had the opportunity to visit with some of the schools and participate their Ag Day events.

The Lower Chattahoochee River Conservation District reaches out to the farming communities within the District, promoting conservation, and innovation by offering local workshops. Giving landowners/farmers the opportunity to ask questions about different concerns and learn alternative ways to implement conservation practices to achieve the primary goal, agricultural sustainability.

As we reflect on the past year we are pleased with all that was achieved within the District and are looking forward to all the new opportunities that will be happening in the coming year.
