Lakes Environmental Association

Mission
to preserve and, when necessary, restore the high water quality and the traditional character of Maine's lakes, watersheds, and related natural resources. The long-term survival of Maine's lakes is critical to present and future generations.

The Lakes Environmental Association is a membership-supported nonprofit founded in 1970 by residents concerned about the water quality of Long Lake in Naples. Now LEA watches out for 37 lakes and ponds in western Maine and is influential in protecting lakes and watersheds statewide. LEA’sfive-person staff, its board, members and volunteers work every day to protect our waters, because water quality is affected by what happens throughout the watershed – in every town, every development, every house lot.
