Kudzu Cove is located on Buck Island in Guntersville, AL. It began as a rental cabin property that has several cabins available to rent. Three fishing ponds are available for visitors as well as birds to catch fish. Resident Belted Kingfishers and Great Blue Herons can be seen year round at these ponds. Green Herons are seen regularly on these ponds from spring to fall. A gazebo is perched on the side of one of these ponds close to a beaver dam. The gazebo is furnished with benches, rocking chairs, fishing platform and even ceiling fans. A bridge spans the pond with benches and a deck built in! I had the privilege of photographing a bald eagle on a tree overhanging this bridge. That was the second experience of seeing an eagle in that tree, the first being a juvenile.

An observation blind was built using cedars that have been cut in development of the property. The blind overlooks a beaver dam and pond on TVA property. Several Redheaded Woodpeckers and Northern Flickers spend their days foraging in the dead pines just yards from the observation blind. Bird feeders are located in the area around this blind to encourage additional songbird activity as well.

Gravel roads are used to navigate the property and can be traveled all the way to the highest point of the property. The views of Guntersville Lake from the top are spectacular. You can see up to 32 miles up river from there on clear days.

There is also a disc golf course on this property. As avid birders, the caretakers of the property immediately began to notice the abundance of species here. The species include, but are not limited to: Bald Eagles, Hawks (Red Tailed, Cooper's and Sharp-shinned), Merlin, American Kestrel, Woodpeckers (Red-headed, Red-bellied, Pileated, Northern Flicker, Downy), White Pelicans, Belted Kingfisher, Herons (Great Blue and Green), Wild Turkey, and all of the typical songbirds found in the region.
