Patrick Cornelius “Con” Cotter grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana and attended Louisiana State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Upon graduation, Con accepted a position as an auditor with the esteemed Shreveport-based accounting firm Heard, McElroy, and Vestal. In 2003, Con passed the CPA exam, becoming the youngest Certified Public Accountant associate in the firm at the time. Con returned to LSU in 2006 to enroll in the Paul M. Herbert Law Center, graduating with his J.D. in 2009.
Con has experience with a wide range of different legal practice areas, including tax and estate planning, commercial matters ranging from oil and gas to real estate, adversarial tax issues, and business utilization. His professional designations include Attorney at Law, Certified Public Accountant, Personal Financial Specialist, and Chartered Global Managerial Accountant. He is a member of the Lafayette Bar Association, the Louisiana Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
