Cochran County Extension

The Cochran County Extension is an arm of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. The Extension provides quality, relevant outreach and continuing educational programs and services to the people of Cochran County and Texas.
 
The Extension brings the resources of the Texas A&M University System to Cochran County. Through field based faculty, Extension provides unbiased, research-based information, educational programs, and technical assistance in the following core service areas:
  • Agriculture
  • Community & economic development
  • Individual & family capacity
  • Youth development & safety
The Cochran County office is located in the South Plains Region of the Panhandle. The TAES Cochran County Program (directed by the Texas A&M University System, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the County Commissioners Courts of Texas Cooperating) strives to serve a local county population, of, approximately, 2,927. This, particular, population derives its main income from a mix of agriculture, city-county government, education, medical and other small commercial opportunities. A major point of interest includes the C.C. Slaughter Ranch Headquarters which was, once, part of an extensive headquarters complex of a cattle baron who established a ranching empire.
