Cape Cod Conservation District

The Cape Cod Conservation District serves the citizens of Barnstable County in helping to address the resource concerns of its soil, water and other resources.

Established in 1947, as a subdivision of state government to bring USDA conservation methods to area farmers, the District currently is comprised of seven volunteer members from Barnstable County. The District Board of Supervisors works in cooperation with its federal partner, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and many federal, state and local agencies to assist local landowners in solving resource problems in Barnstable County. The philosophy of the District recognizes that local citizens involved in helping to preserve and enhance their natural resources is the best solution.

The District offers not only thoughtful environmental approaches to conservation, but also emphasizes education about our natural resources. The District sponsors many environmental education programs that promote wise use of soil, water and related resources.
