Brookings Conservation District

Established in 1944, the Brookings County Conservation District lies in the Big Sioux Valley of east central South Dakota. The Big Sioux River cuts through the county from north to south nearly dividing the county in half. The county is beautified by the following lakes: Campbell, Hendricks, Oak Lake, Oakwood, Poinsett and Sinai. Some of South Dakota's richest farmland is located in Brookings County.

Mission
to ensure the conservation stewardship and wise use of the natural resources.

The District provides support to land users who seek technical assistance to enroll in various government programs, helps the public with complying with the Sediment and Erosion control ordinance and assists with securing state and local funding for specialized projects.
