Comments: The mitigation project involves in-stream channel restoration; as well as riparian restoration, enhancement, and preservation activities on approximately 55.80+/- acres of privately-owned property. The project site contains 5,471 linear feet of Big Creek, a perennial, 3rd-order tributary to the Cuivre River. The in-stream work consists of two areas totaling approximately 2,100 linear feet, which exhibits severe bank erosion. The bank stabilization methodology includes the installation of 8 rock vanes, approximately 1,540 linear feet of longitudinal peak stone toe, and vegetative staking. The riparian restoration and enhancement activities consist of the establishment of a 50-300 ft. forested corridor along both banks of Big Creek. A portion of the established riparian corridor will require planting, but the mitigation project does include preservation of existing areas of forested corridor. In its pre-restoration condition, those areas not currently forested have been used for row-crop agricultural production.
