Mission Statement:
Bayou Land RC&D seeks to improve the quality of life in rural and urban communities, to promote the wise use of our natural resources and improve the economic, environmental and social conditions in the Bayou Land area.
What We Do:
Bayou Land RC&D has a number of varied projects that enable us to promote healthy, sustainable communities in the Bayou Land area.  We work with children, students and adults to educate communities about resource conservation and sustainability.  Many of our outreach programs focus on stormwater best management practices (BMPs), community gardens, native plant identification, and coastal restoration.  We also do watershed planning and monitoring and work with our vegetative specialist to collect and propagate native plants of Louisiana. Some of our programs include:
  • Louisiana Native Plant Initiative (LNPI)
  • Louisiana Native Plant ID Workshops
  • Bayou Terrebonne Watershed Planning & Monitoring
  • Service on the Bayou
  • Elmer's Island Community-Led Restoration
  • Junior Master Gardener
  • Blue Star Memorial Markers
