Anoka Conservation Districtlast updated: December 2009

The Anoka Conservation District (ACD) provides technical and financial assistance to private landowners to manage natural resources in a way that conserves and improves soil and water resources. In the past ACD largely worked with agricultural producers but has since evolved to serve the changing demographics of the county. With very little agriculture remaining in the county, ACD provides assistance to landowners on all sized properties and helps other local governments plan and implement wise resource management strategies.

Mission & Goals

The mission on the Anoka Conservation District is to;

  • Inform and assist county residents and landowners in natural resource management,
  • Conduct research and monitoring for soil and water conservation,
  • Promote practices for soil and water conservation,
  • And serve as a guide to local units of government in land use planning.

It is not possible for the District to address all issues of degraded natural resource quantity and quality. The following list shows where the district will focus it’s limited financial and staff resources. This list was developed by the Board of Supervisors during a comprehensive planning process undertaken in 2006. In order of priority they are:
