The Services of Wildlife Services

Ted Williams has put an arrow into the bullseye of the environmental establishment which is intent on destroying our landscapes (western forests), and the economies of farmers and ranchers. I would augment the title to his recent post to:” THE ESSENTIAL Services of Wildlife Services.”

In the West today with the proliferation of grizzly bears and wolves, Wildlife Services provides an essential shield for human safety. The eradication of nutria from the Chesapeake should be a National success story, and note the importance of private land owners as key parties to the successful eradication.

Islands are critical for seabirds which are under threats worldwide. Removing invasive rodents, rats, mice and other vermin is essential for restoring seabird population. The same damage occurs with introduced goats cats, foxes and macaques. Wildlife Services deserves a salute from us all. They are ESSENTIAL to species conservation in 21st century!
