There are many ways to make a long-term “investment” in LandCAN.
One option is to designate a portion of your assets in your will or trust to benefit
LandCAN. Bequests made through wills or trusts are an important part of LandCAN’s future because they enable individuals to make gifts that they may have not been able to make during life.
What you need to do
Your estate planner is your expert, but here is a sample codicil paragraph that can be included in a wil or trust document to make a bequest to LandCAN:
“I give Land Conservation Assistance Network, a Maine non-profit organization, located in Falmouth, Maine (insert the sum, the property, percentage of residual estate, beneficiary on life insurance policy, etc.)
Speak with your estate or financial advisor for more information. Please let us know once you have added LandCAN to your will or trust. This gift is to be placed in the Endowment Fund of said LandCAN from which a spending portion will be used to support our ability to grow LandCAN’s outreach to our private landowners.
