Finally, the Supreme Court Does Something Right
By: Ted Williams
Posted on:06/26/2026In a 7-2 decision today, the court ruled that Bayer cannot be sued over
state-level claims that the company failed to warn of cancer risks from
its weedkiller Roundup and its original active ingredient glyphosate.

This ruling effectively blocks thousands of pending and future failureto-
warn lawsuits against Bayer across the country.
Glyphosate is absolutely essential for saving fish and wildlife from alien,
invasive plants. That’s why The Nature Conservancy depends on it more
than any of the other 18 herbicides it uses for restoring fish and wildlife
habitat.
As the court noted, EPA has found that glyphosate has NO link to any
kind of cancer.
In fact, every scientific authority on earth that has done ORIGINAL
research on glyphosate has corroborated EPA’s finding. (And, no, the
International Agency for Research on Cancer did not do original
research. It cherry-picked existing studies, then fudged the results,
placing glyphosate on its speculative list of “probable carcinogens”
right up there with tea, coffee, cocoa, hot toddies and red meat).
Safety of herbicides is determined by scientists, not vulturine lawyers or
chemophobic, lay-populated California juries.
